Question: How should you care for diamonds?

Answer: Over time, dust and daily wear & tear can have an adverse affect on the beauty of your diamond jewelry. That's why we recommend a scheduled cleaning, as often as on a yearly basis.

Between your scheduled professional cleanings, Raymond Lee Jewelers recommends the use of a nonabrasive cleaner occasionally for diamond jewelry. This cleaner should be a mild solution of six parts water to one part ammonia may be applied with a soft bristle brush. Question: How do you care for jewelry?

Question: How do you care for sterling silver?

Answer: Sterling silver is a precious metal and requires some regular cleaning. Using a tiny amount of silver jewelry cleaner on a soft cloth, softly rub the silver several times. Rinse the silver thoroughly with warm water and allow to dry. This removes the tarnish (or dullness) and will keep your sterling silver looking like new. A helpful note: chlorine and bleach will accelerate tarnishing and should be avoided when cleaning sterling silver.

Question: How should a person care for cultured pearls?

Answer:Cultured pearls with a lustrous nacre should last for generations with proper care. Keep them free of perfumes, cosmetics, perspiration and any soil or dirt. Just remember, "pearls should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off". You can wipe cultured pearls with a damp cloth. Cultured pearls are often strung on pure silk with knots between each cultured pearl. With time, the silk stretches, weakens and can become soiled. Question: How do you suggest I should store my silver?

Answer: Silver should be kept dry. Completely dry. Keep it away from excessive exposure to air and store it in a tarnish-proof cloth. Get a storage box that is lined with tarnish-proof fabric and has a space for each piece individually. If you live where the climate is humid, you should place a small packet of desiccant crystals in the storage container. Additional notes: Avoid contact with rubber bands or rubber products. Question: How should I handle and care for wood products?

Answer: Products that feature both wood and sterling silver can be cleaned with a regular polishing cloth. If you are using a silver polisher, you must be careful not to apply it to areas that have wood or other stones. The wood elements are most likely to be natural and typically should not have a coating of any kind. If you repeatedly leave it in an area that is too dry or too humid, there is a very good chance that the wood will eventually crack.
